STRUCK BY ENGINE.
PLATELAYER KILLED ON COAST. (P.A.) WESTPORT, October 17. Mr Ronald Martin, aged 26, a single man, a platelayer employed, by the Westport-Stockton. Coal Company, was killed instantly this morning when lie was struck by a locomotive conveying truck loads of coal from the Stockton mine to tho bins. .It appears that Mr Martin was removing a plank lying across the rails. It was raining heavily at. the time and when the locomotive driver saw Mr Martin he applied the brakes immediately, but owing to the slippery nature of the rails the engine could not be pulled up in time.
