GERMAN REPRISALS IN PARIS. EUROPEAN ANTI-NAZI FEELING. LONDON, September 20. The Paris radio stated that 12 French hostages were shot to-day for an attack on ia German soldier on September IG. The Germans have threatened to extend the curfew in Paris for the duration of the war. “ It is announced in Vichy that another four “Communist terrorists” were executed in Paris yesterday immediately after the new State tribunal had passed sentence. Another announcement in Vichy says that nine generals have, been removed from the army and the Government in a purge of Freemasons. The Secretary-General of Police has been removed with the object of strengthening the police against the terror campaign. The Corunna.radio reports that five Communists were killed and several German soldiers wounded in a street battle in Paris. Several men were arrested in Paris on charges of sabotaging German Army cars. Two Frenchmen were shot for spreading alleged Communist propaganda. Five large barns filled with wheat were burned down at Chartres. The Paris radio has vehemently appealed to Marshal Petain for strong measures, regardless of rank or position, against those not collaborating. It said that for every person working for the reconstruction of France 10 were opposing it. Murder was committed at every street corner in Paris and the underground railway had become a place, of ambush. “We want Frenchmen themselves to meet this force with force. Marshal, we ask you to act immediately*” said the announcer. A court-martial in Yugoslavia has sentenced to death five alleged Communists. Reuter’s Jerusalem correspondent says that 20,000 Serbian guerillas attacked and severed railways south of Zagreb and stopped traffic for 10 days. Boycott by Czechs. Czech official quarters in London have learned from secret reports that the Nazi controller of Czech newspapers, Wolfram von Wolwar, is enraged at the complete success of the appeal to the Czechs to boycott the Czech press this week. The campaign has been launched by the National Revolutionary Centre organisation in Bohemia, working in conjunction with the Czech Government in London. They circulated pamphlets and told the Czechs about their intentions by secret wireless stations working in Bohemia. The British Broadcasting Corporation and Czech transmissions also contributed to popularise the scheme. Coffee houses in Prague this week present an unfamiliar sight. Nobody asks the waiters for papers, and the people are reading books or just chatting. Newspapers and publishers, faced with serious financial losses, sent a delegation to von Wolwar asking for compensation or for relaxation of the press regulations. Von Wolwar, how-> ever, received them in a fierce mood J and told them that he might suppress the entire Czech press. The Norwegian Telegraph Agency reports that Quisling commissioners have confiscated all the funds of the Norwegian trade unions, totalling £3,000,000, representing an accumulated investment over 50 years. The arrests of trade unionists continue. They include 40 from a Single shipyard.
