The 'Vichy Government has set up a new body to stamp out violence and disorders in occupied France. It is officially described as a“committce to remedy economic and social difficulties.’’ The decision to establish the committee was taken to-day when a Vichy council of Ministers met to discuss the increasing resistance to the Nazis and the Vichy regime. it is reported that nearly 3000 people have been interned in unoccupied zones for crimes against the Retain regime. Marshal Petain, broadcasting to the nation, appealed to Parisians to help end resistance against the German occupation forces in order to save the remainder of France from reprisal penalties. He declared that the inhabitants of occupied France had an exceptionally heavy responsibility to the rest of Franco. If the attacks continued, innocents might be involved. Marshal Petain said that the attacks must be attributed, to foreign agents. It is announced in Berlin that five Netherlander had been shot for aiding British airmen who had made a forced landing in Holland. More than 100 people were arrested by the Nazis at Brussels following the killing of Ger'man soldiers there.
