NO RAIDS ON BRITAIN.

GERMAN CLAIMS OF REPRISALS.

LONDON, Sept. 10.

Following the Royal Air Force’s heavy raid on Berlin on Sunday night, the German radio has been putting out. about heavy... reprisal raids on Britain. It claimed that the Luftwaffe left a trail of destruction from the north of Scotland to the south, .of England. The facts are, however, according to an Air Ministry statement, that on the night of the raid on Berlin only .a few German aeroplanes operating singly were over Britain; and last night there were none at all.

The anti-aircraft defences of London and the country generally have been . materially strengthened in recent months, reports the “Daily Telegraph.” The newspaper says more powerful guns have been installed in a succession of rings extending far outside London. Factories are turning out considerable numbers of these heavier guns, which are being placed at points where they are expected to prove invaluable in the defensive system .

The recent successes' of anti-aircraft crews are partly attributed to the use of guns with a higher ceiling. More powerful searchlights will co-operatc with the guns.
