OBITUARY.
MR. H. A. BAMFORD. CHRISTCHURCH, This Day. There died recently in Richmond (Nelson) a very old Canterbury identity, Mr Henry Augustus Bamford, in his hundredth year. He came 1 to New Zealand in 1851, in the Steadfast, with his father, Mr John Dean Bamford and two brothers, John and Edwin. The family lived at Lyttelton for a short while and later settled in their home at Woolston. This was the first plastered house built in Canterbury and it has just recently been demolished. Mr Bamford was called to the Bar about 1872, and after practising as a barrister and solicitor for some years in Christchurch he moved to Dannevirlte, where he resided until about 10 years ago. In 1880 he married Miss Susan Davis, who died in 1932. He is suiwived by his sister, Mrs Florance, of “Malmesbury,” Christchurch.
