THE JUNIOR COMPETITIONS.

Conditions were hot the most pleasant for the playing of the junior football match between Hinds arid Technical Old Boys at Hinds on Saturday, rain falling practically' all the time. There .was very little between the two teams and Hinds were lucky to win by five points to three. At Ashburton in a ragged though at times very willing contest Celtic beat Mount Somers by 14 to three. Celtic established a lead of 11 points in the first half, tries by Slaven, O’Grady and Morgan and a conversion by Slaven. The second spell was more even, Horgan scoring another try for the greens and B. Hay scoring for Mount Somers.
