RESULTS FROM SATURDAY. Most of the matches in the Ashburton Basketball Association’s competitions on Saturday were played on hard courts, senior and junior trials for representative teams being conducted, at the Borough School and Technical School grounds. Players on the grass courts found conditions rather difficult, although better than on previous days. Results were: —• Senior A—Technical Old Girls 18, St. Stephens 9; High School Old Girls 15, Tinwald 14; Convent Old Girls 22, Rokeby 19. Senior B—St. Stephens 25, Baring Square f 24; Technical High School 1, High School Old Girls 0; High School 24, Technical Old Girls 3; Methven 39, St. Andrew’s 8; Methven 18, High School 11. Juniors A Hampstead 1, Convent Old Girls 0; Rakaia 1, Technical Old Girls 0; Hinds 16, Baring Square 7; Technical High School 1, St. Andrews 0; Lagmhor 19, High School 6. Junior B—Mayfield 14, . Willowby 12; Eiffeiton 19, Tinwald 6.

The following senior A and B basketball teams were selected to represent the Ashburton Basketball Association after trial matches on Saturday:— A Team' —Attacks, B. Stone, P. Me Sherry, J. Cockroft, B. Grigg; centres J. Spedding, H. Grice, M. White, A. Griffin; defenders, I. McLennan, B. Vincent, H. Bell, O. Husband. B Team—Attacks, M. Edmonds, L. Penny, M. Miles; centres, D. Burgess, K. Brosnahan, M. Bell; defenders, I. Chapman, P. McLoy, J. Fox. Twelve players have been chosen for the A side, the first three emergencies to be given places in the B team.
