i AMERICA MAKES INQUIRIES.

LONDON, May 20.

The United States State Department has asked its Embassy in Berlin to obtain' full details of the whereabouts of the 142 American passengers missing from the Egyptian ship Zamznm, which is believed to have been lostthrough enemy action. Official circles ill Berlin declared that a Warship sank the Zamzam in the middle of April after rescuing the passengers and crew, who landed from a German merchantman at a port in western France.

A Berlin' spokesman said.it was expected that' the American passengers would be released as soon as possible and allowed to return to the United States.
