METHODIST CHURCH.

BARING SQUARE CIRCUIT. THE QUARTERLY MEETING. There was an attendance of 30 members at the quarterly meeting of the Baring Square Methodist Church Circuit held at Wakanui last evening, when tlie.Rev. Angus Mcßean presided. A motion of sympathy with the.relatives of the late Mrs Heseltine was carried in silence.

Airs J. D. I/. Robb and Air J. Aloore, new members, were welcomed. It was reported that- the church membership was the same as at the previous meeting. The financial statement showed that there had been a small credit balance for the period. Special collections were arranged as follows: Baring Square, Home Alissions and church- anniversary. It was reported that the harvest festival thank offerings had been very satisfactory. The Papanui Orphanage wrote thanking the Circuit for produce forwarded to the home.

Air Alcßean reported that there was a deficit in the Trinity College account, and .it was agreed that an allocation of £3 be made to the Baring Square church, this to he found through a retiring collection. Air N. J. Hosking reported on the Sunday .School work, Sister Alildred and Mr C. Bishop on Bible Class work, and Air Mcßean on the activities of the Girls’ Brigade. It was stated that Dr. Alan Butler, a medical missionary on furlough from the Solomon Islands, would conduct a meeting in Ashburton next Wednesday evening, and it was decided to ask thb Alayor to preside. . Mr Mcßean presented a report on the business transacted at the recent Dominion conference, and expressed the thanks of the Conference to the Circuit for its contributions to the Centennial appeal.

It was decided that the churches should revert to the 6.30 o’clock start for evenihg services on April 27. Supper was provided by ladies of the Wakanui church.
