PRIVATELY OWNED .303 RIFLES
ADVTCE RECEIVED IN ASHBURTON
The Government has decided to impress all privately-owned .303 rifles. Advice of this has been received by Captain E. A. Coekroft (Area. Commander of the Home Guard) from the National Service Department. Every Homo Guardsman owning or possessing a rifle, states the letter, must formally hand it in so that he may come under the compensation provisions pf the regulation, and, moreover, this is necessary in order that all rifles will be under effective control.
Captain Coekroft explained ..that Home Guardsmen with rifles would formally hand them ip at- parades and would receive a receipt. Perseus not ‘in the Home Guard and owning rifles should \ hand these t-o the police, who will issue a receipt.
