BUFFET IN SYDNEY.
NEW ZEALAND TROOPS SERVED. GIFT FRiQM THE DOMINION (United Press Association—Copyright.) SYDNEY, March 24. It was announced to-day that the New Zealand National Patriotic Fund Board had presented to the Anaao buffet- in Hyde Park, Sydney, where soldiers are provided with free meals, radio and gramophone equipment ot the most modem design that can ho purchased in New Zealand. Soldiers passing til (rough Sydney to and from the war zone are made welcome at the buffet, some thousands in recent months having had meals there free of charge. It is in recognition of this service to New Zealand soldiers that the presentation has been made.
The buffet is staffed voluntarily by women of various organisations. Women of the New Zealand auxiliary war unit regularly take a turn in carrying out the* duties there.
The Lord Mayor of Sydney (Alderman Crick), referring to the gift, said: “It is a magnificent gesture by the people, of New Zealand, and will, be greatly appreciated by tlie men who attend the buffet.”
