CRUSHED BY A TREE.

MAN KILLED INSTANTLY. (Per Press Association.) OOPE. This Day. Struck by a tree during felling operations at ‘Mataura this morning, Mr George Anderson, a single man, aged about 64, of McQuarrie Street, Invercargill, was crushed and killed instantly. His workmate, Mr George Murphy, of Mataura, received a fracture of the left leg and was admitted to the Gore Hospital. Mi- Anderson was caught unawares when the tree slewed round and his chest was crushed against another trunk.
