GOOD DISPLAY

' __ __— if. — FLOWERS AT BOROUGH SCHOOL. MANY ENTRIES OF HIGH QUALITY RESULTS OF THE JUDGING. There was a rich and colourful display of blooms at the annual flower show of the Borough School, which was opened in- the school this afternoon, and will be continued this evening. The entry .was, as usual, a large one and keen interest was taken in the exhibition by a good attendance of visitors and friends of the school. The aim of the show this year is to raise funds for the improvement of facilities at the school baths. In previous years considerable amounts had been obtained for other improvements at the school. A strong committee, with Mr W. H. Sarney as chairman, and Messrs L. W. Christmas (hon. treasurer), M. J. Leith (hon. secretary) and S. W. Gower (organiser) has been busy arranging for the fixture, and the efficient, manner in which the show progressed was a credit to their efforts. Members of tlie school staff were also co-opted. Several stalls offering produce, icecream, sweets, cake and books did ■brisk business. Competitions and sideshows were also organised. The judges were as follow: Gladioli and dahlias, Messrs W. R. Toon and A. Clark; vegetables and fruit, Mr and Airs G. Clark; cut flowers, Air A. J. Milliehamp; decorative section, Alts A. Clark; cookery, Aliss E. Li 11. Messrs A. Clark and AV. A.
