THE HEALTH CAMP.
VERY SUCCESSFUL MONTH. REPORT TO THE COMMITTEE. The Ashburton Health Camp Committee met yesterday afternoon, Mr Ji). C. Bathurst presiding. Reports on the working of the camp held at iVletliven in January .were received. Tho report of the nurse (Mrs H. Cook) stated that the average gain in weight was 51b lOoz. for girls and 61b for boys. Detailed statements in regard to individual children were given. The weight averages' were the highest since the camp had been started in Ashburton. The highest gain by a girl was 101 b, while one hoy put on 7£lb and two others 71b each. > Members thought that the suggestion of Mrs Cook that after each camp a report should be prepared for the parents of each child showing defects that had been mentioned and suggested treatments, should be adopted. Such reports should prove to be of considerable value to the parents and the children. Appreciation of the work of the staff at the camp, where Mrs M. A. Constable was in charge, xvas expressed. Mrs Constable’s report gave a comprehensive review of the camp. The work entailed was considerable but the staff had co-operated in the' best of spirits-. It had been suggested that a committee should he set up- in Methven to give assistance in tho heavy work of making and breaking the camp each year. Tho camp had been most successful and the childreh. had gained the maximum benefit. The report suggested that some mean's of heating water for bathing the children in the main building should be installed. In the present case, the children had to be’bathed in the kitchen building, which was- a fair distance from the main building. ,
