FINAL PAYMENT FOR 1940.

CANTERBURY RECEIVES £72,805.

(Per Press Association). WELLINGTON, December 19. The Minister for Industries and Commerce, the Hon.. D. G. Sullivan, stated today that a final payment of 3d a! bushel on; wheat from the 1940 harvest will be paid out by the Wheat Committee tomorrow. The total amount will be £84,690. “It is interesting to note,” said the Minister, “that of this amount no less than £.72,808 will be paid to Canterbury growers. , The payment will be made through the Wheat Committee’s authorised brokers. STOCKS IN THE DOMINION WHEAT, FLOUR. AND OATS

WELLINGTON, fDecembed 19.

A census of stocks of wheat, flour, and oats in the Dominion was taken on November 30, when the following quantities were returned, according to a notice appearing in to-night’s Gazette:—Flour, 17,774 tons; wheat, 2,653,69(7 bushels, including 2,400,263 bushels of milling wheat; oats, 553,648 bushels.

Returns were received covering all stocks owned or stored by millers, merchants and farmers throughout the Dominion, with a. few unimportant exceptions which would not appreciably affect the totals given.
