SONS AND DAUGHTERS.

ROTARY CHRISTMAS PARTY CRIPPLED' CHILDREN AS GUESTS With an attendance of 72 people the Ashburton Rotary Club’s sons and daughters Christmas party at the Catholic Club rooms last evening was the largest function the club has held’. The president (the Rev. R. S'. Watson) presided. The room was tastefully decorated and a general festive air was created.

Guests of members were their sons and daughters, all the crippled children of the district who were available and the only English evacuee child ini Ashburton. There was plenty to eat for the young people, who spent a most enjoyable evening, while Father Christmas appeared on the scene and presented each guest’with a small gift. Items were given by Messrs. C. E. Parsons, J. H. Browne and A. C. Wilson, and community singing was led by Mr Wilson. Mr F. Davis was at the piano.

An interesting address was given by the president, who urged the guests to follow the lead of the Rotary members in after life, carrying out the ideals of service to their fellow men wherever they could.
