THE BRITISH ARMY.
DRIVE TO INCREASE STRENGTH.
DECISIVE FACTOR IN THE WAR. (Received This Day, 1.50 a.m.) LONDON, December 18. The first Army drive to increase the man-power- of the British Army is foreshadowed by the Ministry of Information. A statement declares that while the deeds of the Royal Air Force and Navy, and the latest success on the Western Desert and in Greece are heartening news, it should not be forgotten what task faces the main British Army. It is the weapon which will ultimately enforce submission on the enemy. The blockade will weaken him and naval and air action will shake his confidence; but the,war will not ho Avon until the Army has struck deep in the Axis countries. Britain has about 2,000,000 men on military sendee and another 1,000,000 in the Home Guard.
These figures look large but are in fact small.
