POST-WAR RECONSTRUCTION.
LIFE ON HIGHER PLANE. (Per Press Association). , AUCKLAND, December 18. “These epic days in the Western Desert are such as to stir the fancy and heart of every true boy,” said the Covernor-General, Viscount Galway, at the prize-giving ceremony at King’s College to-day. He reminded the boys of their sliai'e in the tasks that would face the Empire and the world aftei hostilities had ceased and in ihe years that follow. “After victory we shall have to face a difficult period in rebuilding .i world shattered by the ravages of the Hitler regime,” lie continued. “We are strong in the belief that right is on our side, and that God will bless our efforts and crown them with success.”
Lord Galway said it was our aim to see a just .peace established for a happier and better world. “But it must be founded on international justice and the sanctity of treaties,” he said, “and our endeavour must be to raise life and all connected . with it to a higher plane.”
