THE WEATHER.
MISTY RAIN AT INTERVALS. At intervals in Ashburton this morning some fairly thick misty rain fell. The sky was heavily clouded. The temperatures were moderately warm. Conditions gradually cleared up in the afternoon. At nine o’clock this morning the rainfall for the preceding €4 hours totalled 11 points. The maximum temperature yesterday was 71.3 degrees and the minimum 46.0. The corresponding readings for Monday were 74.6 and 46.0 degrees. The barometer was slightly un this morning, the reading being 29.84 inches. TO-DAY’S FORECAST.

The Government Meteorologist, at noon to-day, issued the following statement regarding the weather:—
General situation: Anti-cyclones are located to the west and north-east while a weak disturbance is crossing central New Zealand.
The forecast for the east coast of the SoutlrTsland from Blenheim to Oamaru is as follows: Moderate south-westerly winds, becoming variable to : morro*w. Weather fair and mild. Seas slight to moderate.
