Mr L. J. -Watt will leave on Christmas Eve om annual vacation. He will make a. caravan trip and will spend most of his holiday at Waikuku.

. Mi' W. H. Woods has been appointed to the directorate of the Ashburton Permanent Building and Investment Society in place of the late Dr. G. 1. Miller. Mr Woods has been one of the Society’s auditors for many -'years.

At a meeting of the directors of the Ashburton Permanent Building and Investment Society a motion! of sympathy with Mrs G. I. Miller in the death of Dr. Miller was carried in silence. Dr. Miller was a director from March, 1935.

Mr H. It. H. Chalmers (General Manager of the Bank of New Zealand) has been elected chairman of the Associated Banks for 1941, ini succession to Mr Hanna, whose term expires on December 31 (says a Wellington Press Association message).
