ST. JAMES THEATRE. The excellently balanced double bill “Dark Eyes of London” and “The Village Barn Dance” will be shown finally to-night. In the formed* thrills and chills are the order in this Edgar Wallace thriller starring Bela Lugosi. In the associate feature gay comedy takes the lead as. a feast of hilly-billy entertainment is hilariously unfolded. Young Dr. Jimmy Kildare sets out to save a beautiful girl who would rather die than reveal the secret which would save her, in a gripping drama of mystery, romance and medical wonders in the “The Secret of Dr. Kildare,” third of the scientific detective stories, opening at the matinee to-mor-row. Lew Ayres as the young doctor and Lionel Barrymore as the veteran Dr.(Gillespie, his scourge and mentor. The new picture deals with a weird mental malady of a beautiful heiress, which, medicine fails to solve. Ayres turns detective to trail the mystery down to the machinations of a fanatical nurse and a quack doctor. Ayres and Barrymore are given effective support by ,an excellent group of players, among them Lionel Atwill as the millionaire father of the “mystery patient,” Helen Gilbert as the girl in the thrall of an unknown terror, Nat Pendleton as. the (brawpy, ambulance driver and Laraine Day as Ayres’ ■nurse-sweetheart who figures in an hilarious episode wlTtm ~ Barrymore becomes ill and has to follow her orders.
