THE HOME GUARD.

PARADE HELD AT STAVELEY. Thea’e was a muster .of 42 out of 50 signed-up members of the ‘Staveley unit of the Home Guard at the yesterday morning. After roll call, the Guard was divided into sections convenient for the number of rifles available, and were put through rifle drill and marching order. The local commander (Lieutenant J. Means) notified, members that a reasonable allowance of petrol would be available for members compelled to travel a distance to parades. Some new members were attested, and additional members were enrolled pending the arrival of a further supply of enrolment forms. With new enrolments the present strength of the unit is 52 and there is little doubt that by the end of the week the second platoon will be- filled.
