Mr Buxton Green, of Timaru, has been elected president of the New Zealand Grain, Seed', and Produce Merchants’ Federation, which held its annual conference ini Christchurch this week.
At the Ashbuirton Harmonica Band dance last evening a presentation of a gold-mounted, fountain pen was made to Private Leo Reid, a member of the Band, who is with the 4th Reinforcements.
Mr M. Bittler, an honorary member of the Ashburton Soldiers’ Club, who is leaving Ashburton in transfer to Frankton Junction was presented with an electric jug by Mr S'. Culverhouse, on behalf of the social commitee, at a social at the Club last evening.
Mr H. F. Nicoll was reappointed chairman of the electoral committee of United Wheatgrowers (N.Z.), Ltd., at the annual meeting yesterday. Mr R. T. McMillan was elected deputy-chair-man. Mr McMillan and Messrs A. Craig (Clydevale),\ Colin Mclntosh (West Eyreton) and W. W. Mulholland were elected directors.
