PERSONAL.
Mr Aubrey Osman, son of Mr W. J. C. Osman, formerly of Ashburton, who has been on the staffs of the Clerk of the Court at Timaru, Gore and Invercargill in the past few years, has joined up with the Air Force and commences training at Levin next week.
Mr S. (D. Porter, of Ashburton, who is with the Air Force, leaves Ashbfirton bn Saturday prior to going overseas under the l Empire Air Training Scheme. Mr Porter was secretary of the Ashburton County Cricket Association and a member of the Technical Cricket Club.
Dr. and Mrs D. Home Bstt, who left Palmerstoni North ini 1925 to make their home in Jersey, have returned to New Zealand. They left Jersey on June 19, a fortnight before the Germans occupied the Channel Islands. iDr. Bett was in practice in Ashburton in the early part of this century.
The loss suffered by the sporting community through the death of Dr. G. I. Miller was referred to at a meeting of the Mid-Canterbury Tennis SubAssociation dast evening by the president (Mr G. C. Nicoll). A motion placing on record the Association’s regret at Dr. Miller’s death and sympathy with his relatives was carried in silence.
