THE WEATHER.
MILD TEMPERATURES TO-DAY.
Although dull the weather was mild in Ashburton this morning. Conditions brightened about mid-day, the sun breaking through the clouds.
The maximum and minimum temperatures yesterday were 68.4 and 51.5 degrees, compared with 74.2 and 44.6 degrees on Monday.
The barometer stood at 30.14 inches ;o-dav.

WELLINGTON, This Day.
The Government' Meteorologist, at noon to-day, issued the following statement regarding the weather:— A stationary anti-cyclone is centred over New Zealand, while pressure is relatively low near Lord Hoiwfe Island. The forecast for the east coast of the South Island from Blenheim to Oamaru is as follows:—•
Light to moderate winds from an easterly quarter. Morning Jow cloud or fog, but weather otherwise fair to fine and mild. Seas slight.
