V.A.D. WORK.
MANY FULLY-TRAINED MEMBERS PROPOSAL FOR. SUPERINTENDENTS. Sixty-two women from, the Ashburton County are fully-qualified members of the Voluntary Aid Division, it was announced at a meeting of the MidCanterbury Centre of the llpd Cross Society yesterday. Eighteen of these had been called up for service in military hospitals' and three were still at Burwood Hospital. Three had also undergone the extra training in cocking. ; It was decided to thank the Ashburton Hospital Board and its staff for their assistance in giving Y.A.D.’s training in hospital work. <* " Reference was made to the nroposal to set up a V.A.D. reserve and several sub-centres showed keent interest in the idea.
The following remit for the South Island V.A.D. Council meeting on Friday, December 6. was carried: “That it be recommended to the Dominion Council that a senior lady superintendent should be appointed in eacli Island; these two officlers to draw up a syllabus of lectures for centre lady superintendents ’
