THE WEATHER.
MILDER TEMPERATURES TO-DAY
After the wet and cold weather of the last few days conditions in the Ashburton County were much improved to-day. Although for the most part of the morning the sun was obscured by light clouds tire temperature was much milder than it has been. There was only a very light breeze. Steven points of rain fell during the 24 hours ended at nine •o’clock this morning.
The barometer was at 29.55 inches to-day, having fallen slightly since yesterday. The maximum and minimum temperatures yesterday were 53.5 and 44.5 degrees, compared with 52.8 and 40.2 degrees on Wednesday.
TO-DAY'S FORECAST.
(Per Press Association). WELLINGTON, This Day.
Tho Government Meteorologist, at noon to-day, issued the following statement regarding the weather:— An anti-cyclone is centred northwest of the North Island, while a depression is advancing on to the western Tasman Sea. The forecast for the east coast of the South Island from Blenheim to Oamaru is as follows: ate.
Light to moderate and! variable winds. Weather becoming fair generally, with slowly rising temperatures. Seas slight. * t
