HOME GUARD.
MEETING IN ASHBURTON. HON. R. SEMPLE TO SPEAK. t* x A public meeting to foster interest in the formation of the Home Guard in Ashburton will be held in! St. Andrew’s Hall on Monday evening. Speakers will bo, the Minister of National Service (the Hon. R,. Semple), the New Zealand Commander of the Home Guard (Major-General R. Young), the doputy-Mayor (Dr. J. Connor, the County Chairman (Mr S. P. Taylor) the Ashburton, Area. Commander (Captain E. A. Cockroft), and the president of the Ashburton Returned Soldiers’ Association (Air E. At. Ga bites). It is anticipated that a large number of enrolments will .be made after the meeting, which will be the first public meeting since, the Heme Guard Committee was set up in Ashburton.
