COMMUNITY SINGS.

SERIES TO BE CONDUCTED STARTING NEXT WEDNESDAY. A series of community sings to raise funds for thfc l Ashburton section of the million pound patriotic appeal is to be held in Ashburton, starting next Wednesday evening in St. Andrew’s Hall. The sings will all be held on Wednesday evenings.

The leader will be Air A. C l . Wilson, and the pianist Mr Davis, while Mr M. D. Ounneen has agreed; to act as auctioneer. The Ashburton Patriotic Committee, which is promoting the sings, has made, an appeal for people to stand in articles suitable for selling by auction and it is believed a good siun will be raised by this means. A jroom has teen set aside at the Borough Council Chambers where good.for the sale may be left.

The leader of the sings has worked out an interesting programme and the Series should prove to be very popular.
