PLEASANT CONDITIONS TO-DAY.
' The weather was pleasantly warm in Ashburton at noon to-day. Th.e sun was shining strongly and there was a light cool breeze.
Tii!? barometer stood at 29.14 inches this mo;rnin>g, having fallen from 29. LG inches yesterday.
The maximum and minimum temperatures were 55.4 and 44.1 degrees yesterday compared with 59.2 and 38.6 for the previous day.

The Government Meteorologist, at noon to-day, issued the following statement regarding the weather:— General situation: The recent cyclonic depression has moved cast of the Chatham Islands. Another disturbance centred nlear Tasmania,, The forecast for the east coast of the South Island from Blenheim to Oamaru is as follows:—• Light to moderate and variable winds, with, ,norther!ies prevailing to-' morrow. *- W'eathcr fair to fine, frosty to-night, rather milder to-morrow. Seas moderate.
