BOXING.
PROPOSED STRICKLANDALABAMA KID BOUT. (Per Press Association). WELLINGTON, November 8. In connection with the Auckland report yesterday concerning a proposed bout between Maurice Strickland and the Alabama Kid on, Boxing Night at Palmerston North, the secretary of the New Zealand Boxing Council said today that certain obstacles would have to be overcome' before the bout could take place. The contest would have to be staged by the Mamawatu Association, which could not delegate its power to anyon; teelse. • The purse would have to he divided on a 60-40 basis, and permission obtained to go beyond the limit of £l5O. The council’s levies on the purse and takings must be paid. No' application for a fight had yet been received.
