WASTE MATERIAL.

DRIVE BY LOCAL SCHOOLS. ARRANGEMENTS MADE YESTERDAY. To plan the collection of waste metal and bottles sponsored ny the Ashburton Botough Patriotic Committee, representatives of Ashburton primary and secondary schools met yesterday afternoon. Because of the local show this week and the Christchurch Show next week, it was decided to’ delay the drive till Friday and Saturday, November 22 and 23. Each school was allotted an area from which to collect, the Borough, Corivent and Allenton schools acting ontho west side of the railway line, and the High School, Technical High School and; Ashburton East School on the east side of the line. Convenient depots will be established by' the schools. Transport and sale of the material is in the hands of the Patriotic Committee. Whether the collecting will he done in school hours or not is iff the hands of the individual institutions.
