THE WEATHER.

NORTH-WEST WIND CONTINUES A fairly strong north-west wind blew throughout yesterday and again to-day. The sun. shone from a sk\ T containing a few scattered clouds. The atmosphere was'fairly warm. The maxipium and minimum temperatures yesterda3 T were above those for the previous da3 T . The Headings were 68. 2 and 43.9 degrees respectively. The barometer stood at 29.1 inches this morning having fallen slightly smen yesterday.

THE MONTH AT EALINQ. * Rain fell at Ealing on four days in October, the total fall being 96'points, compared with 1.8 inches for the same month last. year. The heaviest fall was 79 points on October 7. Frosts were recorded on 11 mornings during the month, the hardest being of 7 degrees on October 29. MONTH AT MOUNT SOMERS Rain fell on 15 days at Mount Somers during October totalling 287 points compared, with 201 points for the previous October. A maximum of 148 points fell on the 7th. The year’s fail to date is 34.95 inches, compared with 22.17 inches for the corresponding period last year. There were eight frosts with a maximum of eight degrees on: the 10th.

TO-DAY’S FORECAST. WELLINGTON, This Day. The Government Meteorologist, at noon to-day, issued the following statement regarding the weather: — A disturbance with a very deep centre, to the south is beginning to cross the Dominion

The forecast for the east coast of the South Island from Blenheim to Oamaru is as follows:

Strong north-westerly winds, reaching gale force in places and changing to south-westerly to-night. Weather fair at first, but rain developing with the change. Colder tompeiratui es with some snow om the high country. Seas becoming rough.
