THE ASHBURTON CLUB
COMPETITIONS ARBANCED.
The monthly committee meeting of the Ashburton Bowling Club iwias held last evening, thei president (Mr H. R I). Porter) presiding over -a full attendance.
It was decided to hold the following competitions this year:—Champion fours, champion singles, champion pairs, colts’ singles and handicap pairs. A handicap singles competition will also bo held later in the season,.
All competitions except the handicap pairs will he played on the automatic two-life! system with a strict time limit. The handicap pairs will be one life. Entries for all competitions will close on November 2. It was decided tq endeavour to' arrange a home and home match with Allenton, four rinks on each green, on November 2.
Progressive pairs competitions will be held on Labour Day, October 28, and Christchurch Show Day, November 15.
Teni new members were elected
Congratulations were extended _to the president on the success of opening day, there being; the attendance of bowlers, ladies and visitors seen on the green. It was also decided that Saturday games be started at 2 p.m. sharp, names of players to he in the box not later than! 1.50 p.m.
