THE ASHBURTON ASSOCIATION.
REPORT FOR ANNUAL MEETING
The Mid-Canterbury Lawn Tennis Sub-Association won the Browning Shield for the first, time during the last season, states the report to be presented at the annual meeting of the sub-association this evening. The competition is for sub-associations affiliated to the Canterbury Association and was again played on the knock-out system, the Mid-Canterbury team 'going right th rough undefeated. This was ono of the best seasons for many years so far as activity on the ranking list. Twenty-eight matches were played in all and quite a number of changes took place. There was no aeniojr competition, but eight teams took part in the junior grade, Methven being winners and Tinwald run-ners-up. Fifteen clubs were affiliated to the sub-association. The statement of income and expenditure shows that the finances improved during the year from a credit balance of £lO Os 7dl to £ls 13s lid.
