THE WEATHER.
OVERCAST CONDITIONS TO-DAY Overcast conditions prevailed in Ashburton to-day, and the atmosphere was cool. The maximum and minimum temperatures yesterday were 55.6 and 42.5 degrees compared with 57.5 and 45.6 degrees the previous day. The barometer stood at 2,9.99 inches this morning. CONDITIONS AT MT. SOMERS. Rain fell on 15 days during September at Mount- Somers, totalling 537 points, compared with 284 points for the previous September. A maximum fall of 1.65 points fell on the 6th. The year’s rainfall totals 32.08 inches, as against 18.44 inches for the corresponding period last year. Fifteen frosts were registered, with a maximum oi degrees on the 17th. TO-DAY’S FORECAST t WELLINGTON, This Day. The Government Meteorologist, at noon to-day, issued the following statement regarding the weather : An anti-cyclome extends from New South Whiles te beyond southern New Zealand, while a .vigorous depression is centred neaiv Kermadec Islands. The forecast for the east coast of the South Island from Blenheim to Oamaru is as follows: Light to moderate southerly winds, i Weather cloudy on the coast ■with | morning fog or drizzle, but otherwise ! fine, cool temperature, slight seas.
