LT.-COL. EBBS WELCOMED. NEW SALVATION .ARMY CHIEFS Lieutenant-Colonel W. Alex Ebbs, the itewly-appointed Chief Secretary ot the Salvation Army in New Zealand, in three crowded decades has served with distinction in capacities ranging from Corps Commanding Officer to member of the First High Council of the International Salvation Army. Early ini liis career as an officer 110 exhibited a genius for expressing liis unusual powers of thought in force-' ful speech. Last levelling Lt.-Colonel Ebbs attended a meeting in the Ashburton Salvation Army Hall where he was welcomed by a large gathering. He (gave, a resume of liis travels in Italy, Switzerland, Belgium, America, England and, Npnvay. Lt.-Colonel and Mrs Ebbs, accompanied by Lt.-Colonel Sid Smith left for Dunedin to-day.
