WORK APPRECIATED.
HEADMASTER AT ALLENTON. Mr E. S. Chambers (headmaster of the* Allenton School) was farewelled yesterday afternoon by a large gathering of parents, pupils and the staff. Mr E. C. Bathurst (chairman of the Allenton School Committee) presented Mr Chambers with a fireside chair. He spoke of Mr Chambers’ service to the school over a number of years. He made particular mention of the scholastic attainments of the pupils and their success in sports. Mrs Chambers had taken a keen interest in the social activities of the school and district.
Miss G. Nolan presented Mrs Chambers with a crystal vase from the staff, and Miss P. Gibson presented Miss A. Chambers with a sandwich tray from the pupils. Other speakers were Mr W. /( J. Barr, Miss E. White, the Rev. R. S'. Watson, and Master Keith Plunkett.
A programme was presented by the pupils under the supervision of Miss M. Clarkson. , Refreshments were served at the close of the afternoon.
