JAPAN’S PROPOSALS.
CHINA TO CEDE PROVINCES. (United Press Association.—Copyrlgnt.) HONG KONG, July 29. It is reported that the Japanese 8 overtures which China rejected were as follows :—■ (1) The outright cessipn of the five provinces of Hopei, Chahar, Shantung, ■Shansi, and Suiyuan. (2) The recognition of Mr Wang Ohing-wei as President of the Chinese Republic, made up of the remaining provinces plus British Burma, French Indo-China, and Thailand (Siam), in which China and Japan would share economic opportunities.
(3) Manchukuo’s status to he left in abeyance indefinitely.
