MAN WHO BROKE CAMP. CONVERSION AND THEFT • (Per Press Association). DUNEDIN, This Day. Breaking camp at Ngaruawahia on May 16, James Albert Kean, a member of the seventh anti-tank corps of the Second Nfeiv Zealand Expeditionary Force, converted a motor-cycle and commenced a career ot crime that came to a full stop this morning when he appeared in Court and admitted six charges of theit of good and money ot a total value of £23 2s 4d, committing mischief and converting a cycle. Kean made .his, first stop at Hawera where ho stole some clothing, and later worked his way down through the South Island to Dunedin. Here hemecupied a room in an hotel with anotliei man who was the worse lor liquor, stealing £7 10s from him. This money the cycle, and practically all the articles involved have been recovered. {Kean, who had been posted as a deserter, was ordered to he hold in custody till to-morrow when the military authorities will take charge of him. The charges against him were adjourned sine die.
