TRAINING AIR CREWS.

EDUCATIONAL SCHEME ‘ EXTENDED. (Per Press Association). WELLINGTON, June 13. “It is now considered desirable and necessary for every man, before being drafted to an Air Force ground training school, to undergo preliminary educational training in mathematics and science,” said the Minister for Defence (the Hon. F. Jones) in announcing to-day an extension of the educational scheme.

In place of 20 classes at present operating, more than 40 classes would operate as from the beginning of July. From now on an endeavour would he made to got every man selected for the air crow section of the Air Force into a class shortly after his interview with the selection committee and medical examination. A further development of the scheme was the inclusion of a considerable amount of signal training in the preliminary educational training. From July 1 some 61 signalling classes would be operating in 36 centres in the Dominion.
