PLUNKET SOCIETY

THE EIFFELTON SUB-BRANCH. ANNUAL ELECTION OF OFFICERS. The annual meeting of the Eiffelton Sub-Branch of the Plunkot Society was held at the residence of Mr J. McQuillan. The president (Mrs J. McQuillan) presided oyer a record attendance. The secretary* and treasurer (Mrs C. W. Anderson) read the annual report and halance-she'et, which were adopted. Mrs J. Cocks read Nurse Poff’s annual report, as follows -Number of visits to the district 11, visits to homes 1013, number of new; cases for the year 9. The year’s work had been,, fairly satisfactory and mothers were strongly urged to take their children to the Plunket irooms after the nurse’s visits to the homes had ceased.

♦ Quarterly reports from the Lady King Karitane Hospital wore read by Mrs K. Taylor and Mrs G. Moore. Mrs Moore briefly described a recent visit to the hospital. 1 ' The patroness (Mrs J. P. McQuilkin) occupied the chair for the election of officers, which resulted: —(Patroness, Mrs J. P. McQuilkin; president, Mrs H. White; vice-presidents, Mesdames K. Taylor, J. Cocks, J. McQuilkin and G. Moore • secretary and treasurer, Mrs O. W. Anderson; delegates to the Ashburton branch, Mrs H. White and Mrs C. W. Anderson; committee, all members.

As the membership lias increased to 20 it was decided to form,an executive, comprising the president, vice-presi-dents, secretary and treasurer. A district annual meeting for all members, subscribers and friends will he held in October. Mrs H. White made a presentation from 1 the members to Mrs J. McQuillan, retiring president. A vote of thanks was accorded the secretary and treasurer. During a social hour solos were sung by Mesdames K. Taylor and G. Moore, and competitions were arranged by Mrs L.. Moore.

Mrs G. Chalmers moved a vote of thanks to Mrs J. McQuilkin for her ■hospitality, and supper, provided by the ladies of the committee, concluded a most successful and enjoyable meeting.
