WOMEN’S INSTITUTE.

MAYFIELD BIRTHDAY PARTY. The monthly meeting of the Mayfield Women’s Institute took the form of our lOt'ii birthday party, was held in the Band Hall yesterday afternoon, when the President (Mrs A. J. Bush ton) presided over an excellent attendance. Mrs E. Biddick was elected delegate on the Mayfield Dental Clinic Committee. It was decided to send a delegate to the annual conferencei at Wellington in July. Two parcels are to he sent for soldiers this mouth and Mesdames S’. Miller and W. K. Dellow offered to make the cakes. A social hour followed a competition was won by Mrs Scown. A mock court caused much amusement, Mesdames W. Edis, G. Baxter and E:. Biddick being responsible for the many laughs. Songs were sung by Miss Audrey Whiting and the pianist was Mrs R. W. Oakley. . The birthday cake, made by Mrs D. Eilms, was cut by Mrs .Ruddock, of Mount S'omers, the candles were lit by Mesdames Rose and Ruddock and blown out by Mrs Austin. 1 The competitions, judged by Mesdames Heron and Ruddock, resulted: Bowl of Flowers: : Mrs G. J. Murdoch 1, Mrs Scown 2; Vase of Flowers: Mrs ,S. Miller 1, Mrs Scown 2; Posy Bowl: Mrs J. McCormick 1, Mrs E'lmslie 2, Mrs Scown 3. The hostesses were Mesdames S. Miller, D. J. Morrow and Miss B. Morrow.
