SENT AWAY BY THE RED CROSS. ASHBURTON’S CONTRIBUTION. “The Mid-Canterbury Red Cross Society has already forwarded overseas three large cases of new and almost new woollen clothing, cot covers and similar articles for the use of refugee children and there must have been at least 3000 articles in the cases,” said the President of the Society (Mrs F. Cross activities, and the Women’s Institutes and Women’s Divisions are co-operating in the holding of competitions for garments each month. “Members will continue to make up parcels of comforts for sick refugee children and these will he forwarded as usual to the British; Red Cross headquarters. Now that the national appeal for the Sick, Wounded and Distress Fund is almost completed, delegates from all sub-branches have been called to a meeting in Ashburton on June 21, when plans for future activities will be arranged. In the meantime, offers to raise funds, and donations of money and materials will be gratefully accepted for the benefit of refugee children.”
