FIFTY YEARS SYNE \ (From the “Guardian,” May 27, 18S0) Fishing Dispute. St. John’s: A; French' warship ordered British fisherman to remove their nets in St. George’s Bay, situated on the west coast of New Foundland, and landed a paji'ty of marines to see that the order was complied with. A British warship was present but did not interfere. Rare Operation at Ashburton.—-A somewhat rare operation, trephining, was successfully carried out at the Ashburton Hospital a few days ago by Dr. Tweed, tho medical attendant on the patient, assisted by Drs. Trevor and Leahy. The patient, a young woman, 23 ydan's of age, is recovering rapidly and it is hoped that the result will be the entire’ cessation of the epileptic troubles from which she was suffering.
