Mr L. B. Galbraith, first assistant teacher at the Grey Main School, and formerly of Ashburton, has been appointed headmaster of the Lumsdon School.
Mrs W. H. Robinson (president of the South Canterbury Women’s Christian Temperance Union) has returned to Ashburton from Invercargill where; she represented the district at the annual convention.
Mr R. C. Major (Town Clerk) will resume duty on Mondial after being on holiday in the North Island. Mr Major, while in the nortlj* attended the annual conferences of the Municipal Association and the Institute of Town Clerks at Wellington,
Mr Geoffrey Ollivier, who was New Zealand singles tennis champion for some years, will spend the week-end in Ashburton. This afternoon be watched play in the finals of the Gala Cup matches. Mr Ollivier placed in the. South Canterbury championship tournament which was decided at Ashburton in 1904-5.
