OBITUARY.

MRS G. K. AITKEN. Mrs Julianne Jane Aitken, wife of the Rev. G. Iv. Aitken, of 96 Petrie Street, Shirley, died at her residence yesterday, in her 84th year. Air Aitken was Presbyterian minister at Methven for nine years, including the years of the last war. Mrs Aitken was born in Auchinblae, at the foot of the Grampian Hills. Scotland, her father, Air William Aitken, being a Dundee jeweller. Air and 'Airs Aitken were married in Glasgow, where the former entered the cbjirch. They lived there for some time.

Soon after, Air and Airs Aitken left for the wider and more adventurous field of church work in Australia. Mr Aitken worked in the Mackay district. It was an anxious time for Airs Aitken when her husband set forth on the little-used trails to outback stations. For him it was a time of many hardships, but he looks back on them with nothing but pleasure. Air and Mrs Aitken worked in the Alount Alorgan district, too, before coming to Ne/ r Zealand about 30 years ago. Mr Ai>ken’s first charge was Foxton. After leaving Methven he was at Featherston for four years. He accepted a call from Kaiapoi, and retired after four years in the charge. Subsequently, However, he took the position of Aloderator at New Brighton and ho also filled the charge of St. Martins for a brief period. Air. L. Aitken, Methven, is a grandson.

Mr and Airs Aitken celebrated their diamond wedding on December 28.
