THE ASHBURTON CLUB
During tlie last week the weather was very favourable and good progress was made with the various competitions of the Ashburton Bowling Club. Members are taking every opportunity to arrange their games, and the first hpd second rounds should he Completed this week. Results \Vere:

Six rinks from the club took part in the annual Town <v. Country match, which was played in Christchurch on Saturday. A pleasant afternoon was enjoyed, and the visitors were very hospitably entertained by Canterbury and Shirley Clubs, Next Saturday will be a very busy day as both greens will be fully occupied. The annual match between the Ashburton and Ellesmere Sub-Centres, seven rinks a-side, will occupy one green. The match ofr the Bullock Pennant will probably be played on the Allenton (the holder’s) green on Saturday, December 16.

The annual inter-centre bowling match for the Steans Oup between Canterbury and South Canterbury, played on the Kia Toa dub’s green, Timoru, on Saturday afternoon, was won by the visitors .by 207 points to 176.
This was the seventeenth match' between the teams, and each tried hard to win the odd game, as the Oup had previously been Won eight times by teams. Canterbury had four rinks up and one a tie, and thoroughly deserved to win.
