THE FALL OF PAKHOI.
JAPANESE OCCUPY THE CITY. HEAVY FIGHTING IN SUBURBS. NFAV YORK, November 16. The Shanghai correspondent of the United Press of America says the Japanese occupied Pakhoi after heavy fighting in the suburbs. The correspondent of the Domei News. Agency with the forces states that it is planned to drive inland to Aiming, in Kwangsi Province. A column may be sent to Yunnan Province. He added that the vanguard was already 30 miles inland, Shinchow, Fancheng, and other cities having been occupied.
CHINESE DENY REPORTED FALL. THE JAPANESE REPULSED. (Received „Th is Day, 1.15 P- m -) NEIW YORK, November 17. The Chungking correspondent of the “New York Times” says the Chinese deny that Pakhoi. has fallen. They claim that the Japanese were repulsed at Lungmen after a night of bitter fighting and are maintaining an insecure foothold at Shisha, a few miles away. The Chinese are rushing reinforcements to Lungmen.
