OBITUARY.
MR ARNAUD McK£LLAR. (Special to the “Guardian.”) CHRISTCHURCH, This Hay. 1 Mr Arnaud McKellar, a well-known public accountant and business man,, and a former member of the Christ? church City Council, and Deputy-Mayor of the city, died yesterday. Born at Timaru in 1876, the son of Mr and Mrs A. A. M. McKellar, he was educated at Christ’s College and had his first experience in business with the Alliance Assurance Company. Then he joined liis father as a partner in the firm of A. A. McKellar and Son, * public accountants, and he remained one of the principals in the firm until his retirement two years ago. Among the many business interests with which he was connected as director was thq New Zealand Farmers’ Co-operative Association of Canterbury, the chairmanship of which he relinquished only a few weeks ago. His business ability was of great value to many of these organisations, and he was one of the five men who were called upon to reorganise the Farmers’ Co-operative Association at a difficult period of that firm’s operations some years ago. He was secretary for many years to the Blackball Coal Mines, when this company operated its own fleet of colliers and ships. Mr McKellar was at one time DeputyMayor of Christchurch, but his most valuable work was as chairman of,the Electricity Committee of the Council. Mr McKellar married in 1905 Ann Oit Hay, daughter of Mr T. O. Hay, of Anuandale Station, Pigeon Bay. His wife died in 1930, and one son, Mr T. A. McKellar, of Pigeon Bay, and two daughters, Mrs Miles Aeton-Adams (of Christchurch )and Mrs Humphrey Ac-ton-Adams (Clarence Reserve) survive him.
